    Default Condensation

Does anyone else suffer from a lot of condensation after the car has been stood up for a few hours?

Any possible reasons or cures from anyone would be much appreciated as it is driving me mad

Its a Vectra estate by the way and its mostly the windscreen that seems to suffer

    Cheers

I'm sure I heard someone say before you should drive with your windows down for the last minute or so of your drive, then park up and close. Maybe its getting the temps level.

Or maybe that was to avoid the windscreen freezing up.

Who knows - give it a try!

I keep a stash of those little silica gel pouches that are bundled with IT and electrical equipment and put them in the ashtray and glovebox. This normally reduces the amount of condensation and I put the Climate Control A/C Compressor on for a bit if its really bad.

Thanks mate - good to know I am not the only one. It was very bad yesterday after being left for about five hours the inside of the windscreen was 'beading' with water - took ages with wiping down and full demist to get the damn thing dry. I used to have this same problem with Vec B and never resolved it.
I notice a lot of motors in the same car park were fine - maybe a VX thing?

Oh well - I'll buy another chamois....

Thanks R-man will try that - it kind of makes sense to balance the temperature out a bit.

    Cheers

That's a great idea, I'm going to try that - maybe even leave the car door open for a minute or two when you park up. It's all that heat you give off in the car, baked beans for dinner or not :P

I wouldn't say I get a lot of condensation in my vectra, but I have noticed some during spells of wet weather - a bit more than in the other cars I have owned.

As Big Sig said, I leave the aircon on most of the time and I very rarely have condensation. It's for the same reason as leaving the door / window open, it helps dehumidify the air inside the car.

Stonking idea by MartinD511 though, silica gel sachets

I always have the climate control set to "auto", and never get any condensation problems. I suppose the CC dries out the air in the car.
