    Default network Q warranty

sorry if this has been asked before but, we got a letter from network Q today saying that our cover run's out on nov 29th, I called the dealer who sold us the car and they said even though we still have manufacturer's warranty left untill april 30th 2008, the network Q one was a booster and if we required it, then we were to purchase it before nov 29th or we loose the right to buy it and get covered................

very strange i thought but hey-ho.

anyway the price to cover our car is £399.00 full payment or £39.90pm for 10 months, so the big question is, is it worth shopping around first or do we just get the network Q one ??????

i do want a warranty cos if anything was to happen to the turbo/swirl valve/etc i would be gutted, when this normaly happen's we get a new motor, but that is not going to happen as we love it so so much,

i would appreciate any input on this matter, so cheer's in advance

The dealer's talking bollox! You can get Net Q warranty to start when the Vx warranty runs out and it'll cost the price you just said for that size engine. Twice the amount for two years cover. That's exactly what I did.

My car came with Net Q when I first bought it. That ran out after a year. I had the remainder of the Vx warranty to run then when that was about to run out I did the Net Q extension. If you do it after the Vx warranty runs out it will cost you more.

If you want two years then you need to do that when you extend it - you can't do one year then extend it for another year a year later. As you said, you can pay by 10 0% instalments which makes it easier on the wallet - especially if you do the two years (what I did).

EDIT: Ring Net Q directly and talk to them to confirm, but based on what I did the dealer is talking rubbish.

just been doing some digging .. what you have is the "battery, brakes and clutch wear and tear cover plus full AA recovery.
if you wait until april when the car is 3 years old you can take out the sureguard policy (mechanical and electrical failure warranty) which is appx 425 in todays money...
399 is a lot to pay for beakdown cover and wear and tear .....
Buy 12 month breakdown cover and wait till April .....
