    Default Insurance Rant..........

I have been ringing around today getting new quotes for the Signum, as always I declare everything, so, I declared the following :-

    Non Standard Alloy Wheels
    Non Standard Bodykit
Exterior Decorative changes (ie Chrome Door Mirror housings etc)
    Interior changes

OK, no problems so far, and with 30,000 miles a year business class 2 use I got quotes ranging from £514 to £537. I was more than happy with these figures.

I then mentioned about accidents and claims.

Last December, many of you will know when I had the Vectra, a kind lady reversed into the front bumper, which had to be replaced, I did'nt even claim off my insurance, her's covered it without hassle, and I was stantionary at the time.

Because of this, the insurance companies want an additional £150 in premium? Four companies want this additional premium of between £130 and £150 for a non fault accident on top of the £537 for which I did not even claim for in the first place!!

I just lost it on the phone and asked how they could justify this extra. Their repsonse........... Because I have been involved in a bump, there was a higher chance I would be invloved in another in the future. Whan crap!!!!

So if you have had a non fault accident and did'nt claim, you could be stung!!!

That seems really strange mate, so you are just an unlucky person, and because of this you should be paying more than a luckier person? Insurance company logic again...its comical!!

Thats insurance company logic ( or complete lack of it)...any way to screw a few more hundred quid out of the motorist when they where blameless anyway..

i find the calm & polite approach works much better I know what you mean though, With my old vec someone reversed into it in a carpark and didn`t stop. I claimed on the insurance as I had protected no claims, what a joke that is !! Isn`t worth the paper it`s written on because they still ask if you have had a claim in the last 5 years, no matter whether it is protected or not they shaft you !!!

Tommy your right, I am normally the one who preaches the soft and gentle approach, but his logic just wound me up.

Without business use etc, I would only be paying £308 fully comp compared to the £537 but I use it for business so have to have the cover.

    Still not happy though.

I've got two non-fault accident claims (each for £1000) in the last two years, and no change in premium when I compared with and without
However, I do have 7 years protected NCB
