    Question Door speakers

I want to change my door speakers to aftermarket speakers. Do I have to take the door panel off in order to remove them or can I remove them through the speaker grills?

door cards have to come off. fronts are easy. but you will need a bit of patience for the rear as their is a sirclip on the rear window winder, you cannot remove the card until that is out. the circlip just slides forward (back, dependin which way your facing) and it can be done with a small flat head screw driver or slightly larger, but try not to damage anything. also the bit where the door handle is on the inside of each door needs to be taken off to get to TWO torx screws they are size 20-25. Basicly the bit on the door that you hold onto to pull the door shut or to hold on tight if someone is driving like a nutter, you need to get at that with something that will not damage it or it'll cost £15 as someone on here found out to there expense.

I changed my front door speakers to Alpine components with crossovers - the improvement was marginal & not really worth all the agro

It all depends on how they are installed, aftermarket speakers are designed to be amped, so if they're not they wont sound particularly brilliant.

Also, sound deadening, sealing doors and mounting speakers properly and solidly is essential, otherwise you may just be dissapointed with the end result.

Imo, if you're going to the trouble of putting in aftermarket speakers, take your time, install them properly with a nice amp to power them and you will be impressed!
