when you have the caliper off, tie it up to the spring...

then , with a torx socket, take the caliper carrier off...warning.. very tight bolts.. then just undo the securing screw in the disc and remove the disc.. It may need hammering off..

Before fitting the new disc, sand the mounting flange back to bright metal..this is to remove any rust that will stop the new disc sitting 100% flat..degrease all of the new disc and refit it with the securing screw..clean the threadlock off the bolt and reapply some new threadlock..refit the caliper carrier and torque up to FFT ( 240Ftlbs).. then it's just the reverse of the how-2 to put it back together...

There was one for pads, but not the discs IIRC - but I'm sure it was covered in another thread not in the How 2 section.

What do you need to know?

EDIT: Beaten to it by Mark!

Wink Changing Rear Discs & Pads 53 plate 2.0 DTI SXI

Changed my rear discs and pads at the weekend.

You will need a Torx E18 socket or E18 spanner to get the 2 big bolts from the carrier. These are Really F**k*ng tight. I used a butane/propane blow torch to heat the area up a little (PLEASE TAKE CARE IF YOU ARE USING A BLOW TORCH NEAR THE REAR,ESPECIALLY WITH PETROL CARS) Heating them up really helped as the heat softens the thread lock up.. The bolts came off very easily when heated. Try to clean the old thread lock off the bolts before putting new thread lock on when refitting.

I used a pair of long nose pliers to wind the pistons back, as I turned I push them also. This was really easy to do! I did buy the draper wind back tool, it's a cube with differnt pins on each side, this does not fit the Vectra's notches, so I will be returning that back to the shop...

Hope this has helped someone if they are needing info on the job..
