    In my defense, this joke was told to me by a friend who is dyslexic. He also just happens to have a Master's degree in aeronautics!

    Actually, why is the word so difficult to spell??
    "Dyslexia" - how named this condition with such a word? a bit bizarre to me.

    ... I really feel for those that suffer from Tourette's Syndrome....

    The word dyslexia comes from the Greek words δυσ- dys- ("impaired") and λέξις lexis ("word"). People with dyslexia are called dyslexic or dyslectic.

    From Wikipedia. Sometimes referred to as 'word blindness', although that definition is probably regarded now as politically incorrect, due to the use of the word 'blindness' implying permanent disability.

    It is also spelt phonetically, making it easier to recognise/read, unlike so many words in English.

    Thank goodness for spellchecker ( which is still a bit lucky dip) and the good old dictionary....
