Default JVC -> 04 Vectra Steering Controls

    Anyone tried one of these?

    http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/2960...or-p-3482.html

I also have the correct JVC interface cable. Stereo works fine if I unplug the black box. When its plugged in I cannot power the unit up at all.

    Stereo is a JVC KD-AVX2

Am I missing something or is the interface faulty?

yup...as above, i fitted this to the vec - but didn't have the same problems you are having.

my steering wheel buttons wouldn't work despite having the interface plugged in.

do you have the stereo wired so that it is pemanently live? or just on ignition live?

i had mine on pemanent live and the reason why the buttons weren't working was because there was no ignition live going to the black box, so i took it back to the shop that i bought it and they wired it all up on pemanent live - which i prefer.

    hope this helps

P.S. - the avx2 is a fantastic bit of kit - you'll love it when this little niggle is sorted

Been in touch with the manufacturer of the kit today and went through a few things with their technical guru's. Still nothing so they are sending me a complete new kit which should arrive tomorrow.
Will try again tomorrow and keep you posted

i thought it would - the harness is wired up incorrectly, get down to a local audio shop and let them have a play, i'm sure with a few wires and a crimping tool they'll be able to sort it out for you.

you didn't say whether the stereo is wired to ignition live or permanent

ok ended up binning off the caraudiodirect harness and buying

    Autoleads PC99-X45 and PC99-JVC

This harness however doesnt connect to the ignition power source and to get the JVC KD-AVX2 to work you have to join 2 wires which means its permanently powered on regardless of the ignition.

I didnt want this so I modified the harness and added a wire for the ignition. Once I did this the whole thing works perfectly, steering controls and everything. Cant imagine why there wouldnt be a pin for the ignition power source on this harness...

    All is now good!
