Any little quirks or common faults etc that I need to know about. Just picked up an 06 1.8 Life, would like to tap into your knowledge. Hints or tips please on any aspect of the vehicle......

    Hmmm....

have a quick look in the how2 section - things like auto locking doors and 1-touch elec windows...

gearbox is notchy, 1.8 petrol engine is pretty reliable if unremarkable, and you'll find a couple of squeaks or rattles that just won't go away, ever.

    but we all love 'em

When you let the clutch out as your setting off ,you can feel the clutch plates juddering.Mine only happened after the car was warm(usually at the end of the day) but some other people have reported it first thing in the morning.

I believe its due to the clutch plates not being properly manufactured and so Vauxhall have had to design a new clutch and flywheel to compensate. They tested it for over 6 months and then started to supply the dealers at the end of September.I had to wait approx 2 months until they came in(mine started juddering in July at only 2000 miles on the clock).

My dealer was fantastic and promptly replaced it and it now drives perfect again.

Any facelift 1.8 could potentially have this fault so keep a close eye on it and report it immediately to your dealer if it starts to act up.If your dealer tries to fob you off then print out all the threads on 1.8 clutch judder(I did). They then suddenly recall that there is a problem and then decide to sort it.

Neadless to say i wouldn't be buying another Vauxhall after this fiasco.
