And the results....nothing.....they've found nothing. Apart from the original idea that there might be a problem with the ratchet mechanism.

Missed Watchdog. What year cars this apply too ? Only just had mine its an October 2002, and My drive is on a slope. Was there ever a recall to fix the issue?. I'm having a service done at a dealers soon, Ill get them too check it out

I'm gonna get flamed here but I swear its incorrectly applied handbrake that causes it, I have had mine pop off a few times, and everytime I KNOW it was my fault.

Hang on m8, you say it's "popped off" and it's your fault.

You pull the handbrake up and that's it, it stays there. Well that's how it has been for me for the last 30 years of driving Unless i'm missing something here it can't be operator error

Quite right, there shouldnt be some sort of knack to puttting on a handbrake specific to what model of car you are driving!!

Not being funny, but I've had it happen on a hired Vectra. I know full well the handbrake was firmly applied, the car rolled down the drive into a Jag!

Only happened once though. Since then, I've pushed the footbrake while applying the handbrake, feel it pull the pedal slightly and, touch wood, it hasn't happened since.

Still reckon that there has to be a fundamental fault though.
