    Default Radar

This is not a Vectra specific question, but does anyone know of a way of detecting a police car stalking behind you?

I was driving through one of those tempory 40 zones on the A1, I started accelerating a hundered yards before the end of the 40 zone (as you do) and I was doing about 60 when i went through the National speed limit sign; looked in my mirror and it was full of a marked T5. He flashed me and the gave me a hand signal (a polite finger pointing) then shot off and pulled someone in front of me. a very near absent-minded three points, I was just lucky there was somone naughtier than me about!

If they're using the VASCAR method then there's no way of detecting them - other than a fancy device called EYES. , and waiting until the change in limit.

Your user name certainly has a meaning now!

As Duncan says, if the police car is following you it will be using VASCAR to check your speed
and not radar (which i believe is only effective when the operator is stationary), so you'll only know if they pull you.

You could always employ the same piece of equipment that the Police Officer has used to spot you in the first place.... The Mk.1 Human Eyeball.... fantastic piece of kit, its taken millions of years to develop!!!!

A snooper wont detect VASCAR as it doesn't have any emmisions... VASCAR uses a simple method of folowing the offending vehicle at a constant distance and using the calibrated speedo of the police vehicle, along with a timer, to calculate the speed of the offending vehicle over a minimum distance of 0.2 miles.
