Default Today I have mostly been.....

....crawling about on my hands and knees! No, not in the pub!! - in the flippin loft!! Well not today actually, but yesterday - just not posted until today!

Boarded more of the loft so we can put more stuff up there for storage. Boarded the centre part of the loft when we first moved in, but given that it was the middle of summer and was boiling hot, I boarded only what we needed to initially to put up some boxes etc. As it was I must've lost a few pounds sweating!, so any longer doing more and I think I would have melted away! lol

So as yesterday was a nice cool day, got up there and did one of the side sections......

...and my poor knees are still hurting!! I had knee protectors on, but the constant shuffling around and rubbing on my knees still took it's toll!

Took the opportunity to stick down some extra loft insulation - made sense. There was 100mm there originally from when we moved in, so I stuck down another 150mm on top before sticking the boards on - should keep everything nice and toasty.

As I got closer to the edge, and the roof got lower and lower, it got more and more difficult to work and be able to get the cordless drill in to put the screws in - but got there eventually! It's amazing how much room is there once you see it all boarded up! One more job to tick off the DIY list - only umpteen others to go! lol

Nice job. I was up in our loft yesterday putting down mice poison!

What is that vent for? Does it connect to fresh air?

I've been doing our house for the last 7 years...

Recently put in a false partition so I can hang my lcd on the wall and not have any wires showing..

It connects to fresh air as in it goes to a vent under the eaves. It's to allow a flow of air from the airing cupboard at the top of the landing as the gas boiler is in there - so the door has a vent in it, as does the loft hatch so allows the flow of air. There's another vent on the other side of the loft too.

It's chipboard, but with interlocking edges (like laminate flooring) so it 'locks' together.
