    Default Bluddy Buses Again!!!

999 crew rushed to hospital after crash

    By Alex Forsyth
TWO paramedics were taken to hospital last night after their ambulance collided with a bus full of passengers.
The ambulance was on its way to an emergency call when the accident happened at the junction of Bishopsfield Road and Longmynd Drive in Fareham.

Emergency services rushed to the scene just before 6.30pm.

Two fire appliances from Fareham station and the special equipment unit from Copnor, Portsmouth, were on hand to help free the injured paramedics.

Both male paramedics suffered minor back and neck injuries and had to be released from the ambulance by the firefighters.

They were taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham for further treatment. One paramedic was discharged last night and the other man is still believed to be in hospital.

Police cordoned off the area and diverted traffic away from Bishopsfield Road while more ambulance crews were called to treat passengers from the bus.

Another ambulance was sent to answer the original call-out.

Several passengers suffered minor injuries but none needed hospital treatment.

Chris Taylor, 22, of Cutlers Lane, Stubbington, was on the bus.

    He
said: 'The bus was stationary, indicating and started to turn right. Then the ambulance went into the side. I saw the ambulance go past my right and veer off on to the grass. The bus driver's window shattered, so we checked he was OK. He had cuts on his hands.

'The older passengers on the bus were concerned. They didn't hang around for a replacement bus, but walked home. The rest of us waited for another bus, which came within 15 minutes.

'The ambulance definitely came off worst. The impact was so great but, because of the angle the bus was hit, no one was hurt. Had it hit from the back, people probably would have got whiplash.'

The number 35 First bus, which travels between Stubbington and Hill Head and Fareham, had a smashed window and was covered in scratches on the driver's side.

Recovery trucks from Boarhunt garage were called to tow away the damaged ambulance and the bus.

So in other words, the bus driver didn't use his mirror.

If a bus is indicating it obviously has right of way over all traffic including emergency vehicles.

    Hope the paramedics are OK.

Poxy bus drivers - they do seem to think they are a law unto themselves.

That's the special 'Stealth Mode' button fitted to all emergency vehicles. It engages a hi-tech cloaking device that completely surrounds the vehicle and renders it virtually invisible to other traffic...

Bus driver or not, he should have looked. ****.

I agree. It was a sarcastic comment. Some bus drivers seem to think that because their vehicle is bigger they can do as they please.

Which reinforces what we already knew.

Bus drivers are just below Golf drivers when it comes to roadcraft.
