confused Bonnet and intake manifold materials

just wondering if anyone can confirm what i have read in a review about the holden vectra here in australia as it should be the same over there with the vx models
the review states that the inlet manifold and dash crossmember is made out of magnesium i thought this would be too dangerous to use in a car let alone on a engine
and the bonnet is made of a alloy
    http://www.geocities.com/hsv_dh/zcvectracdxi.html
for the origional review i don't have the cdxi model though just the cdx
sorry i don't know what the vx equivilant is but it is still the 3.2 v6 (2003)

yeah that is likely just wanted to find out a bit more about it it is a good idea for weight reduction i spose i don't know how strong it is compared to normal metals as well but that might be another reason

many aircraft use magnesium alloys due to there high strength to weight ratios. It takes an awefull lot to get magnisum alloy to start burning, more than it should ever see at the inlet manifold. If they did catch fire then you would never be able to put them out, just get out and run very fast.
