I've got a 50" LCD Sony, but I've helped a few people buy lately and I'm always impressed with the Samsung tvs.

plasma vs lcd has been on disputed for ages.

lcd, better quality but you NEED a good refresh rate to keep up with the picture.
plasma, better refresh rate (smoother picture) but the quality is slightly lower than lcd.
plasma runs on gas rather than crystals which means it gets a lot hotter. and also needs to be refilled every 2 years???

Not true mate - plasma tends to have a better picture than LCD but LCD's are catching up fast, and yes, plasma's will eventually loose their gas but they last a lot longer than 2 years! My sister's is fours years old and running fine!

Samsung and Lg are the major manufacturers of panels, the LCD's with Samsung panels tend to win the awards and are well respected.

Have a trip over to www.avforums.com and you'll find loads of info and buying guides.
