    It passed, but got an advisory on steering rack play though...
    that may not be a cheap jobby next year!

    Good to hear it passed! Mine had the same this year! It was an advisory on the rack weeping, not play though. I was looking under the car recently and I'd say it's more than weeping!! Going to be going in soon to get looked at and hopefully get it on Network Q!

    Wipe it clean next yr, used to do it with shocks yrs ago, wouldn't now, but a weap from the rack won't hurt if you check the level regularly.

    Yeah, the worst patch up job I did was on a 2.8i Capri, I cleaned the rack bellows out and one strut was leaning, so I undid the bellow on that and put some oil in it so the leak had to fight past it, it passed an mot 1st time.
