    Default New Exhaust Time

Right - the time has come, the money is a-burning a hole and I'm ready to order my new zorsts from Rebel Powerpipes....

I'm going to go for 6"x3" ovals, twin exit...

My question is as follows - Do I need the back box?

I've seen a couple of people have had zorsts made and they have no back box....I just want to 'Y' from the centre to two outlets....please can someone confirm that it won't be a problem a) for the car and b) for MOT etc.

    Thanks in advance

It really depends on how you want the car to sound. When I had mine done at MIJ what they did was remove the old exhaust, then let me stand underneath the car while someone revved it up to see how much noise it made and what I wanted to do.

As it happens, there was virtually no noise at all (which was what I wanted) so they didn't fit any resonated sections or silencers, just straight through pipe.

As far as MOT goes, you need to keep the cat - or at least have a sports cat fitted - unless it's a 1.9, in which case it will pass the emissions test without a cat.

Oh, its a 2.0DTi - so I'll need the CAT then?!

Bums, thats gonna cost a bit more, two CATS then if the 'Y' is in the middle of the car...oh well!

Put the act before the Y, as the cat is normally near the front.

No cat's are at the front of the system, the last box is usually a silencer box and most standard setups have a silencer box in the middle aswell.

So your not getting a full system just a twin exit. If this is all your planning to do you won't need any boxes at the rear, but it could end up being too loud.

I'm no exhaust expert so your best bet is see what they say at Rebel Powerpipes.
