    Default 1.8vvt clutch

Sorry to bring this up again. I have the 1.8 vvt engine with clutch judder. I took it to my local Dealer (Lookers). To see if they could fault it, and guess what, they couldnt. So I rang customer services, and they have told my dealer to keep the car for 2 days, to see if they can fault it. While I was on the phone to them, I asked them, because there is a design fault on the clutch I have, why am I not entitled to a new clutch. The woman I was speaking to said "let me get you the manager" So I asked the manager the same question, and he denigd that there was a design fault, and said the reason VX have designd a new clutch is for "customer satisfaction"

I have a simillar problem with my 06, 1.8veccy. Clutch is very jumpy between all of the gears, took it to the local dealer who investigated and they have admitied that the clutch is a bitt 'iffy' they even said it would be replaced under warrenty but they would have to order the parts. That was 4 weeks ago, I am still waiting for these parts to arrive!

LOL... screen dump to your printer all the threads off here where folks have had their clutches changed, and ask him it it was because of a 'design fault' or customer satisfaction......wave them under his nose, and ask him to phone VX customer services and see if they won't make you a satisfied customer as well....

    Hi

I have a 06 1.8 Sri with the clutch judder problem! I took it into vx last week and they diagnosed that it was juddering. They are replacing the clutch and the flywheel. (as mentioned in another post that the flywheel has to be changed too) It was in last wednesday and parts had to be ordered and the car is in this week to be sorted.

The vx dealer said only one other car has had the problem and found out one after mine, so far only 3 have or going to have it sorted at my local delaer.

I have the part numbers i think, but they are in my car which is at the dealers atm, once i get the car back and i will post them on here.

Dave,i can pm you my case number when i had my clutch and flywheel changed. If other members did the same then Vauxhall wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

I don't know why you having so much difficulty getting through to them.My dealer contacted Vauxhall and they approved the repair straight away.

It is a known fault to Vauxhall and they are just fobbing you off.

Let me know about the case number thing...might help.

out of curiosity, is this a problem with all cars in the 1.8vvti bracket or just a specific year, ie, 06-56, and so on, i have an 07 and must admit i cant say i have felt anything, but best to err on the side of caution

It can affect all the facelift vvti 1.8 models.

Mine is an 07 plate and had to have the clutch at 2000 miles.

Keep your eye on the clutch.Mine only juddered when the car was warm and never first thing in the morning.I found that if i went to a big hill and slipped the clutch for a few seconds then it was smooth for a few days but would return and then get progressively worse.I took my car to the dealers at the end of the day so that it deffinately slipped and they rised a case number no problem.
