Default 03 Signum V6 Diesel - Front Tyre / Springs

I have now had my Sig, for nearly 3 years, it has been a wonderful car, returning on average 42 mpg and with the 30k servicing has been cheapish to run (ignoring the residue value )

However, I have had a problem with the front tyres ripping out on the inner edge, 4 times in to be checked and nothing wrong, 6 tyres later, Mmmm, then on a service, just out of warranty, both front springs broken, ok it took Vx 6 weeks to source and they gave me a nice Vectra to drive. Now it has started again, inner edge right down thru the canvas and metal, (just got back from a 2 day trip to Edinburgh, parked up and in the morning one flat tyre). so its due for its 90k service so we will see.

Any one else had the same problem?

I know of one other case of this, which nearly eneded disasterously on the M25 ....

Your car has the wrong load rated tyres on the front..the 'squish' on the sidewalls causes the shoulder wear to be accelerated, and because of the natural camber of the car it rides on the thinner inner sidewall...

There is much debate of if you need the ( more expensive) higher load rated tyres..with most folk trying to save money by not getting them fitted..But having seen 1st hand what YOU are experiencing, I'd say you need tyres with the 91XL rating.. that will cure the sidewall scrubbing 100%..

That load rating seem high enough to me...95XL should carry the V6 cdti no worries.....

I had a spring go on my '03 2.2dti signum luckily my wife was just pulling off our drive when it happened, both fronts were replaced under warranty but I had to really kick up a stink to get anyone to take it seriously.
