    Default Factory front parking sensors

Ordered myself a new VXR front bumper today complete with honeycombe grilles and chrome & honeycombe foglight surrounds as well as a primered V grille, i got a result as my local dealers who i ordered the car thru have said they will paint if for me for the pultry sum of £75..!

My question is, When its painted and ready for fitting how do i refit the front factory parking sensors into the bumper, i'd assume they push in from the front, but what holds them in place? are they clips or do they push in and turn or what?? if they use some type of clip would i be able to re use the ones on my bumper now or would i need to buy new ones?? any info will be very helpful..

Also is my old bumper worth anything.. is it worth putting up for sale on here or ebaying it? My car is a 57plate star silver SRi Nav XP so the front SRi bumper will be complete just as it was taken off the car except for the parking sensors and foglights which im using in the new vxr bumper, so it will have the XP front lower splitter and 4 parking sensor holes, there are no marks on the bumper at all and the car has currently done only 268 miles...

Think you'll find that the parking sensor positions are marked on the rear of the bumper for drilling and should be a push fit but as they are factory ones i could be wrong and may have a clip that can be transfered. Perhaps someone here can look it up on TIS. Or ask your dealer to put them in while they are painting it, should be peanuts to do that too.

Cheers wilco, maverick said earlier in a pm that the holes were marked on the back..its how the sensors are held in i really need, just so that i can make sure i have everything ready to do it all in one go..
hopefully they are just push fit as you say..

You'll need the retaining rings to hold the sensors. When you pop off your current bumper you'll see them attached to the bumper, and the sensors push through them.

I wouldn't think you could reuse the ones that are on your bumper as they are bonded on.

Would it have not been cheaper and easier to have ordered the VXR body kit option when ordering the vehicle??

I have the VXR body kit fitted, thats the XP, But the XP is a normal SRi front bumper with a lower splitter fitted, the VXR bumper is different..

Cheers Duncan, I'll have a look at getting a new set of sensor rings, I have EPC3 and TIS 2000 July 07 update but its a nightmare to get it to run properly..

Pete the parking sensor holders are PLASTIC welded to the bumper stop the order and re-order the bumper casing with the holes all ready there as the bumper will most likely be rogered when they are retro-fitted !!!!!!!! They should have asked weather the bumper had sensors or not .....................Make the call now

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!

Hi Drinky, They dont actually do a VXR bumper with parking sensors or the AFL headlamp wash holes already cut out, They only list 1 VXR bumper and 2 bottom splitters 1 of which is the VXR splitter and the other is the Style line 2splitter, I spoke to Steve at LMF again and he made a phonecall and double checked for me, once i made sure there was only one VXR bumper top casing i asked about the sensor holders, VX do a kit with everything i need to remount my sensors in the new bumper which is £14inc vat so i asked him to order it and put it in with my order.. Found them Very Helpful at LMF..

I think i'll get My dealers to do the holes and fit the sensor bits when they paint it.. incase i muck it up..
I also managed to get my EPC3 working, i found the VXR/OPC/ Styleline2 bumpers and it defo only shows 1 bumper part number and the 2 splitters..

So to edit my first post, the SRi XP front bumper will be complete except for the foglights as the parking sensor cover bit wont be missing..

Just double checked again and i can only see one top casing for the VXR, Part number's
    VXR / OPC / LINE PACK 2 BUMPER:- 9271527
VXR / OPC LOWER SPLITTER: 9271528
LINE PACK 2 LOWER SPLITTER: 9271529

The VXR / OPC / LINEPACK2 foglight surrounds also have clip on / push on chrome inserts the same sort of thing as the signum surrounds, the number for these is 93186621 and they are £6..
