If it's like most control modules it will be coded to the specific car Vauxhall programmed it to.
I was told when my engine control module was playing up if the garage had to replace it, when it gets programmed to my specific car and it doesn't fix the problem then tough, it's no longer any use to any other car so I'd have to pay for it as they can't just pick one off the shelf just for a tester.

Yep, I was looking into Cim Module in the steering shroud and it also needs to be tech 2'd to the car.

ok, with both your comments appreciated.

The trouble i have is that none of them interior or courtesy (boot or glove box) lights are working, however, whenever i do try to turn them on, even though they dont work... it causes the heater panel to cut out. This includes turning on side lights.
Again... However, if i fully dim the dash display with side lights on, the heater unit will come back to life and operate as normal. Which is weird, there must be a link between the whole lighting circuit as any light causes the heater panel to seemingly short out. Is it the control module that could be causing this problem??

OK, there are two modules that work on those parts.....

Instrument Panel Electrical Centre (IPBEC) - installed in the left footwell, behind the A-pillar inner panelling. (i.e. behind the glovebox area). It contains relays and fuses.

    Body Control Module (BCM)
    - is the central control unit for the body electronics and is connected to the IPBEC.

The BCM is programmed according to features present in the car, so needs to be reprogrammed if put into another car. The IPBEC doesn't appear to need programmed so looks like it's possible to test out one from another car. Battery needs to be disconnected before removing the modules.
