    Default new front brake discs?

    hi,

just wondering, i got new standard discs for the vec today and pads from dealers. do the discs have to be cleaned before fitment with brake cleaner?
i have discs before for other cars and they have had a coating of oil on em but these ones are dry.

    thanks.

I would, they normally have some sort of protective layer on them to prevent corrosion.
Err on the side of caution and give them a quick scrub!

YES!!! - definitely. They are packed with a thin layer of oil to stop them rusting while in storage. You MUST clean this off with brake cleaner fluid or you'll find your brakes will be substantially reduced in braking power.
