The Avro Vulcan is reported to be making its first flight following return to the air tomorrow.

Best of luck to everyone who's worked so hard.

Nice one. I've been hearing quite a bit about this at work.

I work for one of the Prime Contractors and while my role doesn't generally involve the aviation side of the business, I do get to wander through some impressive Aircraft Hangars from time-to-time.

It is located at Bruntingthorpe in Leics.

I would doubt that Wittering has a long enough runway for it ! - But that is based on nothing but gut feel

    It's in the news today:

Vulcan set to return to the skies

A Vulcan bomber XH558 is to fly again after years of resoration work by engineers - weather permitting.

It last flew 14 years ago after a 33 year career in the RAF, including service in the Falklands War.

Some 20,000 people worldwide helped raise the £6.5m needed to restore the Cold War bomber.

It will make the first of three test flights from Bruntingthorpe airfield in Leicestershire after being cleared by the Civil Aviation Authority.

Taff Stone, Chief of the Vulcan Crew, said: "There's a lot of work gone into the aircraft.

"We taken it right down to the basics. We've checked everything, we've cleaned everything, we've finally put it all back together and we've just about achieved the unachievable."

Al McDicken, one of the plane's pilots, added: "She's absolutely magnificent and visually a very attractive aeroplane.

"All of us who have flown her have enjoyed her handling qualities but she really flies like a big fighter in some ways. It's a thrill to be involved with it."

This is old news to be honest.

Do a search on here, it was first mooted about 2 months ago that a 'first' flight was planned for around weeks 35/36
