On my last vectra 1.8 energy, the rear brakes neaded replacing before the front brake pads- any idea's why?

I had the same, my rear pads have just been replaced with 32k on the clock, fronts seem like they've got loads of meat left on them...

Is it to do with the handbrake operating the rear calipers

    Default Rear brake pads

    Hardly likely.

Although with the latest handbrake problem you never know. Perhaps the auto adjust for the handbrake is over keen and just keeps a little pressure against the disc.

True could be a good reason, but as the thread above you will smell it I guess...
It`s an odd problem do to the fact that usually front brakes last less than rears

Rear pads are softer - I've the same sort of wear on the Astra. 60k just clicked on the odo today, and the rears are almost down to the metal for the second time. Fronts are on their 2nd set of pads, and they were only on there because the original pads broke up a few months ago.
