Just went out to B&Q on the hunt for a T20 Bit and nearly got arrested

Was messing around with screwdrivers and bits looking for the cheapest option as i only wanted 1 T20 bit,anyway i found a screwdriver with a T20 Bit inside it.Off i went to the till paid for it and walked out made up it only cost me £3.98

Got to my car and 2mins later out comes Security Man with walkie talkie and all the gear on dressed like a policeman

HE ONLY WENT AND ACCUSED ME OF STEALING SOMETHING YELLOW??? WTF He didint know what i took(even had me on CCTV Monitor)only that it was YELLOW He searched me and my poor VECTRA-C in B & Q carpark looking for anythong yellow?

In the end he didnt find nothing and said he was doing his job

I'm sure he didn't have the right to search my car or me as he could have easily have plamted something under the seat and called police!!! He was nearly gonna arrest me and call the poilce anyway.

I see now how easy it is for the wrong person to end up in jail even if they are innocent,we have no rights anymore.

There is no way i would have let him search me or my car i would have said you can take me in the store and show me the video .

You should have told him to Pisx off when he asked to search you. He should have called the police and had them do it. And make himself look an even bigger pric. Did you complain to the manager. I would have.

He wouldnt have got near me or the car without the police attending.

Why dont you make a fuss to the store manager about how embarrasing the traumatising ordeal was, you might get a few gift vouchers lol...

he doesn't have the authority to search you or your car they can ask you to turn your pockets out and use a magic wand (airport scanner like device) to see if you still have anything on you it's only us policemen that can search you i would of said call the police if you want to search me

Oh i love them kinda people. Every now and then ill chcuk on my chav gear. As soon as i walk into a shop the cameras all point at me. Then you get this security guard trying to follow you discretley. They cant do discreet if they tried. I just walk fast around a corner then come back round behind them. Lol

As a shopper I would have declined, asked the employee to contact the Police, and returned to the store

I am a contractor for B&Q Loss Prevention, so I know the exact procedures they should follow
This person should have asked you to return to the store, before proceeding
I would make a written complaint to the Store Manager, and hand it in to the store in person

As a contractor I have to agree to a search on entering and leaving their premises, but it is random
The "random" search on exiting is not very thorough and items could easily be hidden!
The search also extends to the vehicles of employees, but the search can only be to look in the vehicle

In most cases B&Q do not contact the Police and prefer to place the offender on a national ban
This can result in mistaken identity as most of the "Security" officers know the faces to look for
