    Default brakes squeak

    Hi I have a vectra 2003 model 2.2 dti.

I bought this car about 5 months ago but it had its brakes changed etc in feb. But brakes have started to squeak. They only squeak when i im coming to a stop and speed is low around 30 or less.

brakes were replaced in feb 2007 by vauxhall!

    any ideas?

    Cheers

Its mainly caused due to the lack of asbestos in the make up of the pads these days.

You could try stripping & refitting, if the face of the pad has gone glass like then ruff it up a bit with some fine wet & dry paper.
when refitting coat the back of them with copper slick too, this can help...

If it does'nt help then another solution is to replace the pads with a more expensive softer pad, but with them being softer they will wear out quicker.

Sounds like it just needs more Copaslip applied to the backing of the pads.

As D says, try copper slip on the sliding surfaces and backs of pads NOT THE FRICTION SURFACES THOUGH.
