Steering wheel controls

Sorry for posting this question about my Astra H but the knoledge in these formus is really good.

My car did not come as standard with steering wheel controls. So i put a new steering wheel on with the controls ( one with the scroll wheels) and paid a vauxhall guy £20 to tech 2 it and enable it. It all worked fine or a while then some strange things started to happed.

When i turn my lights on some of the controls do not work, turn the lights off and its good.

Managed to blagg a new cim unit under warranty at vauxhall, and again it worked for a while but now its doing the same, and also the horn doesnt work.

Could it be a problem with the steering wheel its self?

I know that the cim unit transfers the commands onto the canbus but i dont know why it would work for a while then go wrong.

Any ideas?

The cause for such problem is Bad connection of the steering wheel wiring harness pin´s. Solution: replace the wiring harness assembly inside steering wheel, under airbag. Contact your dealer - they must know it.

But im still not sure if bad connections are causeing this issue. How does turning the lights on change the controls from working to not working?

I´m not sure but thats what the manufacturer has come up with recently . Lets see what the future brings with these new wiring harnesses.
