    Default CD70 - updated map, no language CD

    Hi,

    Just updated my 2005 map CD for a 2007/2008 one. Bought off someone on ebay. Advertised as brand new. Arrived through post today with protective CD case still in celophane wrapper. Opens it up, no language CD inside, just the map CD and relevant manuals. Looks genuine article. NAVTEQ etched around the hole in the centre of the CD. I'm pretty clued up with regard to original or a copy.

    Question is, am I right in thinking the language CD is just for initial set up of the CD70, and I don't need it for the new map CD purchased to operate correctly?

    Also, when ordering direct from NAVTEQ, do you have a choice of whether you require the language CD or not?

    Thanks.

    Yeah there has been no update to the language CD, can't see them ever needing to do one.

    I don't know if navteq would sell the language cd, as they come with every car fitted with the nav system.

    Thanks. I shoved the updated disc in the slot today and all worked fine. Is there any buyers market in wanting a 2005 disc (without the language cd, as I will want to keep it in case I should ever need it)?

    It's possible, can't remember off the top of my head if the disc will work on any other units or just the CD70, and when the CD70 was introduced. the 07/08 comes up frequently on ebay though...

    There is only one language cd, version 2005 - 1.0.
    It has nothing to do with Navteq and comes with any CD70 or DVD90 for the spoken navi-voices and voice commands for the phone

    To be honest - no. Well, that's the case in my local area anyway. A couple of petrol stations that have closed down have been removed from the new map, but a new one that opened before the release date of the map hasn't been included. Still making the same mistakes on some of the roads around Oxford as well, whose priorities had changed quite some time ago. Advising me to go down dead ends, take bus lanes, and the like; but hey! that's Oxford for you - a big car hating town that's always had conflicts with any sat nav data.

    If you do get a newer disc, then do as I did, get one off ebay.

    New one from navtec, something like £110
    ebay = £20 to £30.
