    Default Hong Kong

Does anybody have any experience of Hong Kong

I am being put forward intially for a telephone interview for a company in Hong Kong, if I pass that then a full interview in Hong Kong itself.

It is for a permanent position, but there maybe an option after a year to go and work in Sydney for the same firm.

I have a partner and a 3.5 year old so................

Has anyone lived there, visited there or worked there (Hong Kong that is as I know Sydney !!!)

Would love to hear about your experiences

    Cheers

I was there on holiday in 2005, what a cracking place to work, english is widely spoken. eating out is great fun and cheap. I presume that if you need an assistant, I will get first refusal!

My cousin moved out to Hong Kong over 15 years ago and has never looked back. He has a really good design job which also takes him to Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney etc.
He comes "home" every so often but he has married a Chinese girl and is totally settled there. He is a techno freak too so it helps being there

EDIT: Oh, and good luck. BTW they are far more polite than a lot of the people in this country m8

Only visited for about four days on a shoot once, so didn't see a huge amount ot it! lol - and it was before it was handed back to China so I don't know what has changed since (don't think that much really). I enjoyed it though and working out there would certainly be tempting!

I worked there for GPT around 8 years ago when the new airport rail link (MTRC) was built. I spent approx 1 year there (Kowloon Panda Hotel)
I would go back any-time. If i was offered a job in HK now, i would go. HK is the most welcoming, pleasant place i have been.....Expensive, but worth it. They even drive on the right side of the road......

    IMHO.... Go for it!

My best mate Garry is out there working for HSBC, He went out in Jan this year when he started a 3 year transfer from HSBC's offices in Docklands where he was head of IT, He came back & visited me in July and said he isnt interested in coming back, he's asked to stay there long term.. He has a company flat on the mountain overlooking Hong Kong Harbour, Want's me to visit him as soon as i'm able too.. He says there is hardly any crime in HongKong.. He loves it there..

I'd go for it if i were you...

If you'd like i'll email him and ask if its ok to give you his email so you can email him and find out for sure what its like over there..
    I'm sure he won't mind..

HK is a nice place. Very small and very busy. The higher you live up the hill the richer you are. I have been a few time's now. Like i say it's very compact but very clean and tidy and the people are really very nice.
And they even drive on the correct "left" side of the road and have the old trams running downtown and red double decker bus's. You realy think that you are in the middle of london. "apart from the muppets beggging etc"
All the very best for the job mate, and good luck.
