    Default Being a passenger

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else feel uneasy as a passenger? I only feel at ease when i'm behind the wheel!!

It could just be because i'm used to being the driver and rarely a passenger....

I hate being a passenger, Im always trying to hit the breaks even though I know the driver has full control. F**k knows what I'll be like when my misses starts driving.

A lot worse either on a bike, or in your own car (especially with RBK giving it beans *lol*)

Yes, I used those imaginary brakes in the passenger footwell too, with my right hand poised to grab the handbrake.......but it was my ex-wife driving.

She was a nervous wreck, and turned me into one too. I would have preferred to be on my pushbike, even though it was pi$$ing down at the time.

I'm happy sitting in the passenger seat if it's somebody who I know is a capable driver. Anyone who I've let drive my car (and I wouldn't let them if I hadn't seen how they drive) can testify that I'm 'enthusiastic' at allowing them to give it the beans!!

If it's somebody who I'm not confident in their ability, doesn't matter if it's their car, I'm looking for those imaginary brake pedals too!!

I think the sensation of speed appears more when your a passenger. Which is why you want to start braking long before the driver starts to brake.

In the past 15 years I've only ever asked someone to slow down once (and seriously meant it).... but I am still a nervous passenger with most drivers.

Reason why I get nervous with some people is they are not predictable. They drive the car as fast as it will go and they rely on their reactions to 'save' them..... In my opinion, its only a matter of time before they do some harm.

When you go out with a professional racing driver, they make you feel at ease straight away, as all their moves are planned and logical. The experience flows gracefully with the car always perfectly balanced, sliding one way.... then another.... lovely and fast

Not grappling with the steering wheel, car unstable shaking and twitching all over the place with the driver laughing histerically with their eyes bulging out amazed at how well the car gripped through that last bend !! ... oh dear... its only a matter of time....

in a car i'm fine (ish) but on the back of a fire pump its a different matter ! the standard of driving at our station varies greatly ! and i often shut my eyes and wait for a bang when going to a shout !!
