    Default What a stupid barsteward.

60 mile range showing on the trip computer. I've got a 100 mile run tonight at 11pm to get the ferry to Ireland for a few days with work.
Pull in to put £10 worth of derv in as it's cheaper over there.
Replace the nozzle and notice that it's GREEN!!
I cannot believe I've just done this, I've been driving diesel cars for years.
So, I put another40 litres of derv on top and hope for the best. As it's not a common rail diesel, my mate who is an expert diesel fitter tells me I'll get away with it as long as I top up with diesel every hour or so.
    What a dork.

Very easily done, i know of quite a few peeps who have done that at one time or another. hopefully it will be ok - I think it is worse if it is done the opposite way DERV - unleaded! Some Guinness may help you through it!

Funnily enough last time I was over there I saw three petrol pumps at the side of the road. Guiness was super UL, Beamish regular UL and Murphys was diesel!!
Guess it's Murphys for the car and Super UL for me next week then!

I work at a BP station, the whole 'people putting the wrong fuel in' thing happens all the time, especially at the airport with lots of hire cars. I know that diesel in petrol is a 100 times worse than the other way around anyway!

Drive it easy mate, petrol will rot the seals in the pump etc, do 20 miles and keep topping up, on the bright side though, ppl used to add gas to derv to stop it freezing, keep me fingers crossed for ya.

A can of injector cleaner wont go amiss after you got it all out either.

I once put £18 worth of petrol in my old company car (Fraud Mondeo TDCi). I topped it up with diesel and it ran fine. You should be OK matey.

It should be ok & as the others said, keep it full. Luckily you didn't put too much petrol in.
