A quick note...........

Hi guys -

I suspect some of you may have noticed that I have been the one doing all the posting recently and that Drinky has been a little conspicuous by his absence.

Just in case anyone wonders where he is, or has worried that he has taken offence and deserted you, he has asked me to give you all a short explanation for his absence.

Over the past 2 months, his Dad had been diagnosed with asbestos - related lung cancer, and we have spent a lot of time visiting him in hospital and keeping an eye on his Mum as well. Sadly he became very ill very quickly and we brought him home, where he wanted to be, and he passed away peacefully last Saturday morning, with us all beside him.

I hope that under the circumstances, you will understand why he hasn't been on the forum much, as none of us have felt very sociable. I am sure he will be back in action soon, and, needless to say, regardless of past events, we will both still be coming to Leeds - we are in serious need of some friendly faces!

As above - no need to explain why you haven't been on the forum lately. Sorry to hear the bad news and of your loss.

I can fully understand the tough time the two of you must have had over the past two months. My wife is going through a hard time at the moment (with me supporting where I can) as her Dad went into hospital recently with a suspected stomach complaint, they discovered cancer of the oesophagus (non-operable), then he had complications (fit and suspected stroke) that put him in Intensive Care for a week. Out of IC now, but things in his brain still aren't right and awaiting the chemo/radio therapy treatment to slow down the spread.

Edit: Sorry, my splurge above sounds like I'm trying to get sympathy for me. What I was meaning was that I fully understand what you've been going through as we're going through it now - and that our thoughts are with you both.
