    Default 1.8 clutch

my car as gone in for a service today and i've asked them to check the clutch out as it judders on cold mornings.
the service fella told me that if they don't find a fault then they can not get a case number for me as i pointed out the problems on this site, and that i had phoned vaux customer service and they told me that they had 1250 clutches on back order.when i told him that if its not cold it won't do it and my net q warranty runs out end of this month.i have taken an extended warranty out for another year but it say's the clutch is not covered.
his reply was well if it goes after this warranty we will tell them you are a loyal customer and they may pay 50% towards any cost.the point is can i make them raise a case number if they don,t find the fault as i know it's there

Is your car not a 2006? If so then its covered for 2 more years yet and they should replace the clutch for free.I had mine done and no trouble now.Surly if they have 1250 on back order then it proves theres a major fault with them and so yours should be in the cue.

I feel that their just trying to fob you off.Its a known fault and needs correcting NOW.Your dealers sound useless.Ring them up and give them hell. The old saying springs to mind 'The sqeaking gate get the oil'.In other words complain, complain, complain.

I did and had it done no trouble.Search my posts for further help on this issue.

The mrs is having hers done next week. When it went in for service i mentioned the judder and was told it wasn't a common fault and nobody had reported the same problem. stayed calm mentioned this site and how others had suffered in this way, quick phone call was made and a case number was given. this was 3 weeks ago and we got a call today to book in for next week. Don't let them fob you off it is a common problem which they know about, the only reason we've had to wait was the fact they had no clutch kits available at the time.

Keep on at the dealer KNS - mine is a 2004 and I complained before the 3 yr warranty ran out. Finally it is being done tomorrow after nearly 4 months - like Videodoctor says, it is a known fault, keep on at them. Good luck mate.

I asked for a case file when I took my car in for service in July, still not heard anything, might have to chase them now that someone has had theirs done in under 3 weeks!

why is it some dealers are just replacing the clutch and others look at you blank and say "there is a problem with the astra but not the vectra
mine returned today and they said sorry we can't fault it so no case number we need to find a fault to get a case number and can't just replace it

KNS. I think its true that there are probably fewer Vectras affected by comparison with Astra 1.6's. If its any help I can PM you the details of the warranty man at Marshall Ipswich who has dealt with mine. At least you could refer your dealer back to someone who is acknowledging the problem. I think he had 31 Astras and 5 Vectras awaiting the fix the last time I asked and probably more now. Regards Mark
