Default Fuel Flap- yet another problem.

Hi Everyone, had the car back from VX on monday after having a new main fusebox fitted due to a brake light fault. See post - http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread.php?t=30812

Went to get some fuel today and the flap will not open . Now this was working perfectly fine before the fusebox replacement. I have checked the fuse for the fuel flap and it appears to be fine. (although this fuse is not on the box that was replaced ).

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas cos I imagine VX will totally deny that its due to work that they carried out. May be just coincidence

Any help will be gratefully recieved.

Yep, I unlocked all the doors and even pressed the boot unlock button.

Also, if anyone could tell me how to release the locking pin manually. Just so I dont have to break the fuel flap.

Can you not reach the back of the flap from cubby hole in the boot? I've not looked myself but I seem to remember my old Cavalier had a little tag you could pull to move the pin back.

Had the same problem on the vec-B. It was a bit tricky, but I could release the pin from inside the boot cubby hole. The whole relay had broken, needed a new one from Vx, simple to fit on the B (once I'd got the locking pin that is!), would imagine it's a similiar set-up on the C.

Of course you only notice the problem once on the forecourt (well I did!) couldn't unlock it there and then so drove home with fuel light on, attacked it and left it unlocked (fitted a locking cap) until I could get the part from Vx.

You would not believe the past couple of hours I've just had
Finally, got to the switch that locks the fuel flap- you have to remove the complete side bootliner to get to it and then the switch unclips out. Voila! the fuel flap can now be opened. The pin on the switch only operates to lock, it will not unlock
Here's the good bit..... in my excitement at finding the fault I managed to lock my keys in the boot !!! Luckily, I thought, I had left the drivers side window down slightly so I will just pop my hand through and press the boot unlock button. At this point the alarm goes off and I cannot do anything... the car is now deadlocked.
I rang the AA, only got roadside relay but they agreed to give me a free call-out on this occasion There was just enough room for him to get one of his gizmo's through the drivers window and wind the back window down. We then just pulled the back seat down and got the keys. If my rear windows were electric like the front he said I would have really been in the poo.
So all in all it has been a good day
I will let you know later if I can repair the switch or if its gonna be a new one. Thanks to everyone who replied in this post.

Have you tried to push the fuel flap before unlocking (while unlocking)?....HTH
