    Default Chain or Belt?

    Dose the 1.8 vvt have a cam chain or belt? The VX dealer I bought mine of said it was a chain.

    Thanks for that m8. I have had it for about 2 weeks, I bought it on 40k, and it had just had the 40k sevice, the dealer told me the chain never needs replacing, is that true?

    Also, Im worried about the cluch, I heard there is a new cluch that you can get on waranty, coz the old one gets judder, can anyone tell me about that? thanks for any advice

    Have a search for the clutch on here mate. The problem is that when pulling away the car seems to judder. Although I'm not sure what models or years it affects.

    Chains are not for life but with regular oil changes it will easily see 150K so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    The earlier 1.8 is a belt, it seems from above that the 1.8VVT is a chain.

    yeh, I thought the 1.8 VVT was a belt too, like the old one.

    Sorry m8 my info was wrong I searched for z18xe and found that it was chain, but now relise that it is the old 1.8 and it is a belt so not sure about the vvt TBH am sure someone can confirm for definate what type it is.
