Default Retro fit bonnet gas strut

does anyone know why VX have removed the bonnet gas strut, my old SRI had it and I'm assuming every one else (pre-facelift) had it, I've now got the new car and VX have removed it,

The bonnet strut made it so simple to open the bonnet and do any work.
pop the leaver and the bonnet pretty much opens on its own, now you have to faff around putting the support in the slot to hold up the bonnet,

Any ideas if you can retro fit one from say the pre-face lift or indeed if its an optional extra ??

they removed because the favelift bonnet is not as heavy as the old one as the grill is now not part of the bonnet, hth.

I'm not sure thats the reason, I'd say it was purely cost cuting and penny pinching

    Thats more like it,

    1)gas bonnet strut
2)old style wiper blades back on
3)right hand side boot pocket, just a flap and a void- no cubby hole
4)no internal boot release on drivers door
5)no on borad computer control via wiper stalk,

its the little things that please

its pointless fitting gas struts to the facelift bonnet as ppl have said there`s
no weight in it as its aluminum and also if a gas strut is fitted then the
bonnet will twist and very possibility you will damage the bonnet,as with
the pre facelift bonnet its made out of metal and weighs alot more but then
all you can do is try it and see if it works.

I hate to point this out but aluminum is metal and the pre facelift bonnet is non magnetic, so its either ally or stainless
