    Default Signum engine vibration

    Hi everbody,

What information can anybody give me about a vibration and noise from my 2.0 dti engine.

    1. On start up a sound like an exhaust banging against a bulkhead is heard.
    2. When ticking over the whole car vibrates.
    3. Moving off the exhaust sound is heard through out the car.

Generally the car is very noisy when starting.

As the car is only 13 months old and 14500 miles I have asked VX to look at it once again

I would like any info on the cause so I can be prepared with ready made answers. (VX serviced the car recently and said everthing was OK, but the noise and vibration are getting worse day by day)

I just can not belive the noise and vibration is normal? or is it VX cars with a dti engine the norm.

    Thanks in advance

    Thanks Jamie1979.

From your reply you don't have a vibration noise when starting or moving off?

No mate, I have the 2.0t (petrol) and its smooth as silk (except when I boot it!! ) Bicknells are pretty good, so you shouldn't have a problem getting it sorted. Suggest taking one of the service guys (or even the service manager) for a test drive to show them what the problem is.

The VX dealer says nothing is wrong and the noise is normal.

So went around to an exhaust place and said my exhaust seems to be knocking. So on the ramp they started the car engaged 1st gear gently and behold knocking noise heard. Further visual checking and it appears the whole engine moves forward under load and the forward down pipe hits the bulkhead. The joint before the middle cat vibrates like crazy, the rest of the exhaust is static. The said its the rear engine mounting not the exhaust.

So what do I do next?

    Thanks

Take it to back to the dealer and complain to Vx customer services. The words 'compensation' and 'free service' spring to mind.

Took the car to the dealer nothing wrong.

So other sigum 2.0 dti drivers must have the same tractor starting sounds and accept it's normal.
This coming weekend I am going to visit another dealer and test drive another signum 2.0 dti.

What's really P***** me is a friend with a vectra 2.0 dti same year drives without the rumbling/banging noise from the front of the car and he said the exhaust is knocking after driving my car 100 yards down the road.

The garage in worcester were very helpful but I am not happy. Next weekend will be the key so in the mean time are the rumbling/knocking noise when starting or moving off caused by the rear engine mounts.?

Note: At tickover the car vibrates through the steering wheel and the drivers arm rest
