    Default Front brake pads

    I'm not impressed.

The light came on last night, and I don't have time to get and change the pads today.
I'm going away for a few days tomorrow, so it will have to wait.

The question is, how much pad will be left when the light just comes on? I am going to disable the light by doing the sensor wires (as it's annoying) for the time being anyway.

The pads are from new and have only done 75,000 miles . . . . . . my last car did 85,000 on a front set.

I don't know how much life will be left in your pads but if you aren't careful you're going to end up having to replace the front discs as well! If i were you i'd be changing pads before you go.
Either Kwik fit or diy with pads from parts place although there aren't to many open on a sunday.

    I would if I could.

But no where is open and I'm busy most of the afternoon.

Surely they'd be ok for a couple of hundred miles, without damaging anything else

    Not Impressed?

    75000 miles?

    'Kinell.

Mine came on with the front pads having a couple of mm left, which to me at least meant they wanted doing within 1000 miles. Thing was, the rears were down to the metal. It's a little bit of the 'piece of string' answer really.

75,000 miles and you're not happy with that!! Blimey!!

If the light has just come on I'd expect you'd be okay for a couple of hundred miles. IIRC the light gives you warning a good bit before they're fully worn. But as above, and as you'll know yourself, best to get them changed ASAP.

Can you not buy a set tomorrow morning and stick them on quickly? Front pads take no time at all to change.

What I'm unimpressed about is the fact that the light has come on today.

    Leaving early in morning too....

    Ho hum, pigs bum.

I ran mine with the light on for 2 weeks when i first got it and there was no problem. Not saying that will definately be the case for your's, but it was ok for me.

I prefer the 1st graunch method for brake pads myself rather than the sensor wire, at 75k I'd wear them all the way down if I was you and have new discs as well when the time arrives, the sensor throws it on well in advance of the pads being totally gone, a pad facing is normally this thick new |____| you still have this much left right now |_|, hth, and Ste you really do have high levels of expectation don't you, 75k for pads and you're moaning
