    Default Nail in tyre

Noticed this last night, I've no idea how deep its gone in. As you can see the tyre's still inflated. I've tried pulling by hand but it wont budge. I'm worried if I do pull it out the tyre will go too (or will it be ok?)

In the shoulder - doesn't look repairable to me.

The experts on here will confirm/deny

It's looking like it's in the area where it may not be repairable, but it's very close - it may be repairable.

It all depends on the length of the nail TBH, it may just be part of a broken nail and hasn't broken the inside wall. What I'd do, if it was me, is either drive down to your tyre place and get them to pull it out there and see if it then starts to leak air. If it does then you're in the right place for a repair/new tyre if needed.

Other option is to pull it out yourself and see what happens. No leak then you're fine. Leak, then you'll have to pop on the spare and take the wheel to the tyre place.

Thats unrepairable, even if it doesn't leak it could have gone down to the cords which aren't meant to be exposed and they could weaken and weaken the tyre.

Well, there you go - from a man in the know. Bummer izonoky, looks like a new tyre! Pity as it looks like you've got a decent bit of tread left!

booga, if that's really the case, I'm looking at the cost two rear wheel tyres, I can't see the tyre centre replacing just the one. They've only done 7200k.

Why not? If only one needs replaced then that's all you need to do.

the wear will be uneven, that's my thought. (I'm tempted to leave the damn thing in there, it doesn't appear to be interfering with the main tread, just get the pliers and clip the head and some of the neck)

Not really a problem. It's a bit of a misnomer that you need to replace both tyres if one is replaced. If you were not far off needing a new tyre then yes, probably an idea to replace the other one - but if you have a good amount of tread left, which it looks like you do, then there is simply no need to replace both. All you have to do is ensure that both tyres are of the same spec i.e. width/profile (and I think speed and load rating too) to be legal.
