    Default Weird screen heater behaviour

This morning was the first time this year that I needed to use the heated rear screen, which reminded me of an annoying problem with it.
Get in the car, start up and switch on the heated screen.
Get to the end of the road, and it's gone off. Switch it back on, and it stays on.
It seems that if you switch it on within 30 seconds of starting the engine it won't stay on. Leave it a while and it's fine.

    Anyone else got this quirk?

    Phil

Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Yes, in the fact that the rear demister is doing what's been described above. I don't think the front demister being on at the time is linked, as ours seem to do it (rear demister turns off after a few seconds) without the front demister being turned on.

    Yep, its a
And I bet someone will post it next autumn, too!

But just think how many new threads we get because people don't bother to search, or don't remember they have!

Perhaps, as some folks have suggested, it's a delay to let the battery recover from a cold start or something. Wonder if it happens if you get straight up to speed from a cold start, rather than manouvering slowly?

I don't think Steve was posting the link to imply that this was a repost, more to ascertain whether his problem was the same.

As has been said, I too wonder if it's some current protection thing (although I can't see the need TBH) - and you'd have thought it wouldn't have let you turn it on at all, rather than letting you turn it on then it turning off automatically within 10 seconds. Maybe that's to show that it's working so that you don't keep prodding the button! lol

'tis an odd 'feature' to say the least. I wonder if anyone has a definitive answer.

Someone could ask VX about it ? no doubt they have a sticker to alerty the driver of this unusual feature

have to say I haven't noticed mine doing it, it tends to go off after about 20 mins or so.
