    Question Shopping around Calais.

Can anyone recommend where's the best place to go shopping in or around Calais ? Upto 75 miles from the port is ok.
I've booked a day trip for late november to treat my wife (she dosn't know yet ) and need to know where there are any big shopping malls, factory outlets etc.
    Anyone ?

i always go to cite europe. Easy to find. About 200 shops (lots of nice clothes shops for you). There is a section where they have a lot of restaurants. Recommend the mussels (if you like them).

Just watch where you park. Park in open view, as its been known for a certain group of people slash your tyres. When you come back to the car, you put you stuff in the car and go and get help. They break into the car and steal all your drink etc.
I park on the top level of the car parks. When its full I move to another spot in open view. Then I can have my meal/drink in peace

Not being cheeky but remember the time difference. I forgot and just made the return journey......

I think i may have passed this place on the way to Le Mans last year.

I tend to avoid Cite Europe.
If you want wine, come off the ferry and head south from Calais towards Boulogne. Take the Frethun exit, turn left and you'll see a big place called "Franglais" on the right. Their wine is very good, and the staff all speak English.
Then head back north on the motorway, come off at Coquelles, and head up to the big Auchan hypermarket.
Or, if you want a bit more charm, go south to Boulogne, take the signs for "vieux ville" (Old town) park outside, and have a wander into the old walled city. There are some nice restaurants, too.
Of course, Bruges isn't much further than 75 miles, and that's a lovely place for a day!
I warn you -day trips to France can be addictive!

    Yes.

If you take the tunnel its virually on the doorstep. If going by ferry and little bit of a drive. The website has a map.
I get my beer in the supermarket (just as cheap). There is a Tesco's wine shop but selling only wine spirits. No beer. If you like wine, pop into your local Tecso's and take a note of the wines you like and the price. You can get carried away. My advice is buy the beers, wine and spirits you like. I have throw away french stubby bottles that have been in my garage for years.

Calais is a bit of a dump so don't plan on sight seeing the city/town. It does have a very nice beach so if its not too cold in November its worth a visit. (long golden sand). You will see it as you dock, if taking the ferry.
