Vectra Trim Level / Year Strangeness..

Afternoon all,

This isn't that important, but I'm bored at work so here goes:

The car I've bought, but haven't been able to pick up yet :

Registered on: 2003/11/11 - 53' 2.2 SXi has body coloured door handles:



This car registered on: 2003/12/26 -53' 2.2 SXi does not have body coloured door handles - but its the same trim level?! Is it because my car is newer, but was registered earlier than the other car which was older and sat on a forecourt for a lot longer?



Anyway, not that important - was just wondering why!

Dont know why but just to really bug you the grey one also has clear side repeater's which were not standard on the SXi !!!!

Arghh! (Although pleased mine is the 'grey' one.. (incidentally, is that officially 'moonland'?))

It looks like moonland to me (same as a 2.2 SRi Vec B I had).

It could be because yours is an earlier car beleive it or not. Vauxhall launched the C with a lot of goodies when they first came out, but then started deleting/lowering the trim standards. Could be the later one is a 2004 MY car where yours is a 2003.

Of course it could be the previous owner did a few upgrades, but still thats my guess.

Chris, mine is an SXI, registered Sept 2003, came with the clear side repeaters & clear style rear lights when I got it. It was only 12 months old when I got it.

The very early SXI's had black door handles.

Then on 04 / 54 plate, the SXI's came with the SRI bumpers & lowered suspension, but lost things like rain sensitive wipers & auto dim rear mirror.

Well that makes sense - especially the bit about Vauxhall taking bits off - did the price change to reflect that on new models?! Although I think I'd take the SRi bumpers over the auto dimming mirrors...

Thanks for confirming the colour, I am desperate to get behind the wheel now - fingers are crossed for Friday - I've already got my new double din stereo + facia adapter & wiring harness all ready and waiting

The grey one is probably 2004 spec & the champagne one 2003 spec, a mate at work had a black 03 plate SXi as it looked better with the black handles, another had a 53 plate blue SXi (same as payney's colour) that had body coloured, I had an 03 Elegance as it had the coloured handles as well as loads other extras
