    Default Does this sound tempting?...

Selling sophie's little coras at the moment and was just waiting to get the scammers contact me by email.....and after initial email showing interest this is what i receive:

Thanks once again for the email.i am very interested in the car as i have stated earlier and for you to know that,i have no intention of disputing you over the price.the price is okay by me and i will buy the car.as you know that i am in England and the easiest and most convenient way of payment for me is to send you a cheque.i have a client who is willing to pay me and i have notified them about this transaction and they are ready to make the payment directly to you.they will send you a cheque which will cover the fee for the car and all other expenses i.e the bank charges and the rest.i have as well made a perfect arrangement with my shipping company who will help me pick the car as soon as we are settled with the payment.i will therefore need your full name and address so as to send the cheque and take note,i will wait till you cash the cheque at your bank(till your bank tell you the cheque is okay) before coming for the car because as soon as we settle with the payment,i will need to sign all the necessary papers so i will come as soon as everything i settled.all i need now is your full name as you want it on the cheque and your full address and you phone numbers in case i need to call you.the cheque will come in excess funds for the car and for all other charges and the shipping funds as well.you will deposit it to your bank account and they will tell you at the bank when the cheque will be ready to cash.
thank you and have a wonderful time.
    best regards.

    NAME..........
    POSTAL ADDRESS:.........
    TEL/CEL.NUMBERS..........
but it's not the usual "we'll transfer your money directly into your account and you ship the car.." gibberish. he's saying that he's actually going to send me a cheque and wait for it to cash.

now.....hypothetically speaking, what's to stop me from opening a new account, banking his cheque, waiting for funds to clear and then closing the account. and whatever he does with the car is none of my concern.

EDIT: and all he's askign for is an address, doesn't even want my bank details. is this the new age of scamming?

Take one very large and long barge pole and use it!
If it seems to good to be true it probably is!

I know it's nice to get rid of a car when your trying to sell but this has DODGY written all over it.

I would bet that as soon as you agreed to the deal the problems would start!!

i know it's a scam, it can't be anything but!!

but the usual procedure is for them to ask for your bank account details etc.

in this case, he's saying he's going to send me a cheque and wait for it to clear.

obviously, i haven't and will not be responding to this guy, but just playing devil's advocate.

I know it looks - and probably is - dodgy, but I can't see how they could scam anything from that?

The only thing I can think is that they might use the address to come and pinch the car..?

Or they have a load of hooky Bank Details and want your name and address to register them too!

Give them your works address to send the cheque, cash it and transfer the funds into another account, and close the first account.

    Try scamming the scammers.

Or, go to one of those 'we cash cheques' places and get them to do it...
