    Default Air Conditioning Packed Up....

    Air Conditioning packed up yesterday.

    Pressed the button to turn it on and all I heard was a psssssssssssssh sort of sound... a bit like a metalic air escaping sort of noise.

    Anyway... the aircon doesnt work now !!

    Any ideas whats happened ??

    Hmmm....

    Are you still getting air coming through the vents? ie are the fans still working?

    Yep, the airflow is all still working fine... but no cold air !!

    sound like you have lost a/c gas. Might have a damaged pipe or a damaged pipe seal

    Sounds like you have lost the gas which acts a lubricant for the compressor. Thats why you hear the metallic clicking from behind the dash. You have a leak. Don't keep it switched on as you will damage the compressor.

    I bet its due to pressure build-up in your turbo........

    I always thought if the system lost pressure the canbus module wouldn't engage the A/C pump? Am I wrong?

    i've lost gas twice and both times the compressor has worked. I've got no gas at the moment and the compressor tinkles from behind the dash. Noise goes away when i turn off the A/C. So it must be the compressor.(i think)

    If it's hissing it's normally a pipe/hose leaking, but it will only do it for about 5 mins until all the gas has gone, then it should automatically shut down the whole a/c system.
