Loud squealing/squeaking

Posted this a while back, but since fitting the alloys it has become much more frequent. Basically when the car is travelling between 30 and 45 mph a loud squealing/squeaking noise comes from what appears to be the passenger side of the car. I didn't really pay much attention to it until it turned the heads of a number of pedestrians i passed

I have heard the same noise coming from other Vecs' of the same spec i.e LS/Life.

It's becoming very annoying, even more so when the dealers couldn't hear it when they took it for a test run.

Has anyone else had this on their car?

i had this m8 it was more of a squeaking, on my drivers side, it turned out to be a f*cked shock on mine as it was leaking

hmmmm....could it be related to the brakes (have you changed the recently?), or a ball bearing?

Could be a warped disc mate.

i had the same problem. sounds like either brake pads or warped disc or both to me.

Any idea how i could find out for sure what it is before going to the dealers? If they can't hear it while taking a test run then they fob you off saying it's fine

Out with the pads, spin the discs and see if you can see the warp.

Other things to check are these

Stone between the shield and disc
Shield cutting into alloy, check back of wheel for grooving

my car does the same front passenger,mine is a vectra 2.0 DTI LS.

The noise gets lots of l00KS from people in the street,i thought it was because i had a nice car-but then i turned the radio down and heard the sqealing noise!

my 20dti 03 makes a high pitched squeak at about 40mph when its not windy but when the wind gets up or i drive past a street and i hear a gust of wind i hear the noise at lower speeds . i checked all the brakes and suspention out so i think my problem is wind noise its so annoying i have the music on all the time ...

Had a very similar experience on my 53 Vec-C. Turned out to be the thin metal plate behind the disc. It is very thin metal and when it warps it touches the disk. It's very easy to just bend a little away from the disc.
Sorry can't remember the technical name for it, just pulled a 16hr shift and I'm kn@#&*@ed,
