Default Ellesmere Port Sports and Social Pt1 Detailing Demo.

Ian Brown from Finer detailing gave us a demo of his abilities at todays meet. Here's a walk through of Ja's Pink GSi

Now this is the sort of job that costs £250. I had a chat with him about getting mine done, and he reckoned with what I have in the garage already I can get the finish I want by hand! So not only is he good, He's honest and you can't knock that!!!

Appoligies in advance. I had some settings on the camera wrong so the photos have been remasted a little. The colour is a little out but not the finish.

Firstly The problem. Ja had his car "valeted" by someone recently who did a naff job. On the first wash after the Valet the red car went pink and blotchy. Ians diagnosis was that the valeter have cutt to deep into the paint and done serious damage!

Ian had a look and first checked the paint thickness. To make sure he had enough to work with.

Next he cleaned of the surface debris with a detailing spray. Even that started to remove the oxidation.

Next Half the bonnet was taped to emphasise the before and after

Next a paint cleaner was used to reduce the oxidation using a rotary polisher. A small section was done then buffed up before the next section was done. Even at this stage the impact was impressive.

Once Ian had polished the bonnet he applied some Wax By hand and buffed it up.

Finally the tape was remove to really show the difference.

Next Ian did a swirl removal on a Vec B:

    During:

    After:

So big hand to Ian and Thanks for coming.

That was a very interesting hour or so watching Iain do the two cars. The difference between the before and after was amazing. His running commentary was very good too.

To be fair Iain gave a 20 minute analysis and advice to Jason along with possible solutions. He then said that he would show him on one panel and which would obviously look a lot better than the rest of the car.

He was talking all the way through the demos and £250 is the price he charges for a full detail.

Obviously that's up to Jason to decide what to do but I know the owner of the Veccy B booked him for just that.

If I could just expand as the thread appears to come across as 'Iain only wanted J's money'.

The demo on J's car was agreed before anything was done, with J agreed with the half bonnet demo to show how it could be improved. The demo was also to show just how lightly the paint would be polished to correct the issues. We checked the paint depth again afterwards, with the difference hardly noticable.

    Iain,

Please don't take Drinkys post seriously, It's his sense of humour. Theres more than enough common sense and knowledge in the forum to realise that you've not done anything underhand and that your work is obviously top notch.

As Stevel has said the £250ish is the cost of the car not a bonnet. I should have made it clear in my post

As I said in the original post you did a fantastic demo and the size of your audience shows how interesting it was. I hope you get a bit of trade out it.
Your advice was free and honest and I along with others respect that.

Perhaps you could list the products you used as I can't remember them exactly?
