Talking No longer a clay "virgin"

Finally got round to sorting the Vec for the winter this weekend - washed, clay'd, washed, polished and waxed with Collinite (one coat so far, suffering from RSI/arthritis in my wrists so second coat will probably be next weekend along with sorting the wheels). The feel of the paint is lovely now even though its probably not anywhere near the standard suitable for show.

I've also fitted the reversing sensors (thank to Ghostrider for the info/help) and debadged the rear and doors.

I was surprised at how easy claying was once I'd got over the initial fear of using it (thanks AndrewTi for the run through) and also surprised at the cost of everything I bought - been a good few years since I'd bought anything decent!

As pics are the law... (taken on camera phone, left my digi SLR at home )

I started 8am yesterday and apart from stopping for lunch and a couple of cups of coffee I finished the waxing about 6:30 last night, this morning I did the parking sensors.

All I can say is the estate is a ******* big car to clay!!

I don't think claying alone will necessarily help the swirls, but polishing will - I believe that to do it properly you need to mechanically polish.

Have a look on http:\\www.detailingworld.co.uk for info and advice. be prepared to get a bit obsessed with it all...
