I'm not going for a huge write up, Duncan's pretty much got that covered, I'm just going to throw a few pictures and a few lines in.
So, to start then, Packing the car ready to go, I'm done, Dean's ready, guess who's not!!
Plasma was really quite happy with his snack pack!
All day, Dean was convinced we were going to Milan, not Millau. He wasn't allowed to touch a map without supervision for the rest of the trip!
From there really, the running reports take up the story, sadly most of it is true! Like me wanting my wobbly bottom to be inspected....
Anyway. We arrived at the bridge! As said, we weren't actually all that impressed at this time!
Oh and this was the first other Vectra or Signum we'd seen in nearly 725 miles!!! Look where we found it!
This had brought us to Millau. We checked into the Ibis, and then went off to look for photography viewpoints. This was my favourite, but then I'm no expert, I just like what I like! Got this there.
Next day we got up and out and tried a sight detour on our way to the view point and managed to get a few photos up there. Up to now, we'd been a bit confused. Every picture you see, shows the bridge deck actually curving, as far as we could see it was dead straight. Until now. It was here that we realised the trip down had been worth it.
We moved on to the next viewpoint. To get there was a bluddy hard climb. I didn't enjoy the climb, but then I hate heights! Dean was going to wait with the car, but he missed us so came to see what we were up to. The poor man was as red as my Wales rugby top when he got to the summit. He didn't say anything for a good few minutes! Anyone want a VectraC.com Garden gnome? I'm going to run a few off for members!
Nearly forgot this one. Dean and Duncan posing beside a fountain in Millau. Phone camera pic, excuse the quality!
After a bit of a drive from Clermont Ferrand, we got into Calais. After the obligatory shopping, we arrived at the ferry. Then I realised jst how filthy the car is!
And that's pretty much all I took, I was obviously busy driving while the others took more pictures, and a lot better too.
Next year, we're doing it again. We're going earlier, around late August probably, and will possibly be camping, there's so many sites around. Plus it'll be longer. The Tarn valley, just needs exploring. It's just strangely beautifull. In a Craggy gorge, with the river running through, totally unspoiled. Millau itself is a really nice place too. Speaking of which, nearly forgot this pic, taken on the phone from one of the towns bridges.
That's it!
