Default I need a big favour

One of the girls in work has bought a Focus 1.8 diesel from a garage. (116,000 miles!)

It comes with a six month warranty but she knows nothing about cars doesn't know anyone that does.

I was wondering therefore if someone in the North West (She lives in Manchester) would be good a look to take a quick look at it to identify anything that needs to be dealt with whilst it's still under warranty.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Edit. Sorry guys but could someone move it to the NW section please.

I know nothing about engines, but my friend recently bought a 1.8 diesel focus, and he had problems a week after he bought it. It came with a 'warranty', but this warranty required him to pay for half the bills to fix. It has 90k on the clock.

Madness as I found him a mint veccy B with 30k on the clock for the same price (less than 3k)

Not to scare you off, but thought I should mention it.

Steve we used to give car's like this the 10/10 warranty ....................10 miles or 10 minutes whichever came first ......In all seriousness matey if it's got full service history and look's like it's been looked after then it should be a goodun as i think the ford diesel's are pretty robust and tend to last well also just have a look at the warranty doc's for her and read the small print !!!!HTH will have a chat at week end if i see you !!!!

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!

I had a Focus before buying the Veccy. If it's around 2000-2001 (or earlier) check the inner door flanges (ooer!)...where the outer door skin wraps under (or around) the edges of the door onto the inside (technical aren't I )

...there was a dodgy sealent batch used and it drys out on some models and rusts, if you run your finger along the sealent and it cracks then it has the fault. My W reg had it, and Ford refused under warranty to repair it even though it was an acknowledged problem.

Thanks Chris, Will hopefully see you Sunday.

She's had a rough time recently and seems a bit lost.

    Update.

She picked up car yesterday. Looks in very good nick considering the mileage. Full Ford service history up to 96,000 miles and then independents up to last year when it missed the service..

She is having it serviced next week so any jobs that come up in addition she can whip it back to the place she bought it from and the true value of the warranty will become clear.

Thanks once again for the pointers.
