    Default Hardwire GPS?

Right people. Trying to hardwire my GPS navigation and Snooper into the cars system to allow power when turning on the key. Obvious way is through the cigarette lighter or through the fuse box. I can do the job but anyone know of a step by step guide on the net to help?

Never thought of buying a seperate multi fag socket from "hellfrauds" (good choice of word) and hiding behind the dash. Would mean i could plug the two in and solve both problems. Where bouts did you find the cable for instument/heater lights. Just gotta learn how to get to the certin wires to scotch lock in. They seem to build these cars to last nowadays. Had thought bought the fag socket if i can get behind it, after all, all i need is an ignition controlled live, earth isn't the problem.

How you getting on with the prblem of thieving s****? Take it there is no comeback at the mo?

Do you find you find you get some interference with the radio in having the fag lighter extension behind the dash.

I have a 3 way one sat behind the heater controls. When I switch the radio on the signal (to Radio 1 only bizarrely) is fine. As soon as I switch on the ignition the signal becomes fuzzy (Again only on Radio 1) and the radio struggles to retune to find a good signal

Have though about wrapping the extension socket in tin foil

    Cheers

The foil would have to be earthed to ensure good screening.

Posibility could be that it is to close to the aerial lead. Strange that it would be only radio one though. Unless its the frequency? Have you tried moving the fag extension to another part of the car/somewhere else behind the dash?

I haven't yet no. But like I say it only happens when the ignition is on so hence the fag extension is live

That would be my guess then, the power of the extension is affecting the radio signal through the wire. I'm gonna have a shot at it today so i'll let you know how i get on with mine. If i test it behind the heater controls too.
