I know this has been done by others before, but not for a while as far as I can see
I need a new pair of fronts (215/55/16). Replacing the "Federals", they were not good IMO; poor in the wet especially & worn out after 10,000 miles of use. Rear Pirelli P7 seem to be lasting much better, as they normally do on the back. I think they are still the original ones on 35k now.

I'm thinking of getting Michelin or P7's. Has anyone else used those, and what sort of mileages have you got out of the fronts please?

I'm a high mileage driver and prefer Michelin HX tyres
You pay your money for what you get, but I can get a set to last 40K miles, swapping rear to front as they wear
I go through two tyres every 4 months

My previous Mondeo was fitted with Continental Super Contact 2 and they were awful, and they only lasted 12K miles!

Sadly my current Vectra had Good Year 215/50R17 tyres, but having now replaced them with 225/45R17 tyres I've seen a minor improvement
Michelin tyres at this size aren't an option

Thanks, I can get Michelin's in my size so I'm going to give those a try. That mileage you got out of them is great.
"El cheapo" tyres have proven to be false economy in the past - buy cheap, buy twice

Heh, Michelin HX. Your favourite PVC tyre. Just don't expect to be able to change direction or stop if the road is damp or wet.

Paid extra for a set of Michelin Primacy tyres a couple of years ago, didn't find that they lasted any longer than anything else, or had any better properties.

Now gone back to my favourite, BF Goodrich. Good grip, good water clearance, reasonable (30K miles) service life. Fairly good prices too.

The Michelin HX MXM is an excellent tyre
Tested up to 140mph several years ago
